Web Flattening & Wrinkle-Removing Rubber Expander Roller Details
Product Overview
The AstraRoll Custom Web Flattening & Wrinkle-Removing Rubber Expander Roller is designed for continuous web processing lines where wrinkles, creases, slack edges, or uneven web distribution can affect material quality and downstream production. Featuring a curved roller configuration, the expander roller creates a controlled lateral spreading effect as the web passes over the rubber-covered surface, helping flatten the material, open wrinkles, and maintain a more stable and evenly distributed web path.
Also known as a Rubber Banana Roller, Rubber Bowed Roller, or Rubber Spreader Roller, this type of roller is widely used for continuous materials such as plastic film, paper, non-woven materials, textiles, and flexible packaging webs. It can be installed in film blowing, printing, coating, laminating, slitting, rewinding, textile processing, papermaking, and plastic processing equipment, where effective web spreading and wrinkle control are required.
AstraRoll provides NBR and EPDM rubber covering options for different web handling conditions. The rubber material, hardness, cover thickness, and surface characteristics can be selected according to the processed material and operating environment. NBR is commonly selected for applications requiring good wear and oil resistance, while EPDM is suitable for applications requiring resistance to weathering, heat, water, or certain chemical environments.
Custom Web Handling Performance
The effectiveness of an expander roller depends not only on its rubber covering but also on its overall geometry and bow configuration. AstraRoll can customize the bow curvature and spreading profile according to the web width, material characteristics, required spreading effect, and machine configuration. This allows the roller to provide controlled lateral spreading and help reduce wrinkles, creases, slack edges, and uneven web distribution during continuous operation.
The rubber surface can also be customized in terms of rubber hardness, cover thickness, surface finish, and application-specific formulation. Depending on the working conditions, options such as wear-resistant, oil-resistant, anti-static, or non-marking rubber can be considered to achieve the required contact performance between the roller and the web.
Non-Standard Dimensions & Shaft Design
Because web processing machinery varies in working width, installation space, bearing arrangement, and operating conditions, AstraRoll manufactures Rubber Expander Rollers according to specific equipment requirements rather than limiting customers to fixed standard dimensions.
Common roller diameters are available from 80 mm to 150 mm, while working lengths can be customized from 100 mm to 6000 mm according to the web width and machine configuration. The overall roller length and other dimensional details can also be adjusted for replacement or new equipment applications.
AstraRoll also supports customization of the complete shaft and mounting structure, including shaft diameter, shaft length, bearing seats, keyways, threads, shaft ends, mounting dimensions, and connection configurations. This allows the roller to match existing equipment structures and makes it suitable for both new machine integration and replacement applications.
Applications
The Rubber Expander Roller is suitable for a wide range of continuous web processing applications, including:
Film & Flexible Packaging
Used in film blowing, printing, coating, laminating, slitting, and rewinding processes to improve web flatness and reduce wrinkles.
Printing & Converting
Helps maintain a stable and evenly distributed web before and between printing, coating, laminating, and converting processes.
Paper & Papermaking
Used for continuous paper handling, coating, converting, and winding applications where wrinkle control and stable web transport are required.
Textile & Non-Woven Processing
Helps spread and flatten continuous textile and non-woven materials while reducing creases and uneven web distribution.
Plastic Processing
Suitable for plastic film and other continuous polymer materials processed through converting, finishing, and winding equipment.
Slitting & Rewinding
Helps flatten and stabilize slit webs before winding, supporting more consistent material distribution and finished roll quality.
Application-Specific Manufacturing by AstraRoll
As a professional industrial roller manufacturer and supplier, AstraRoll supports non-standard roller manufacturing from individual replacement rollers and prototypes to small-batch and larger production requirements. Instead of supplying only fixed standard rollers, AstraRoll can manufacture the roller according to the customer's actual machine structure, web material, working width, and operating conditions.
From roller diameter, working length, and bow curvature to rubber material, hardness, cover thickness, shaft dimensions, bearing seats, mounting structure, and surface finish, key components of the Rubber Expander Roller can be customized to meet different equipment requirements.
With precision machining and application-focused manufacturing capabilities, AstraRoll provides customized web handling rollers for customers in film, printing, packaging, textile, paper, non-woven, plastic processing, and other continuous production industries, helping improve web flatness, lateral spreading, wrinkle control, and overall material handling stability.
