A: If your casters will be constantly submerged or subjected to continuous high-pressure washing (like in meat processing), Delrin bearings are the best choice as they are made of a highly durable engineered plastic that physically cannot rust. If you need to move extremely heavy loads and require the lowest possible rolling resistance, choose Stainless Steel Roller or Ball bearings and ensure they are regularly greased.
Q: Are these casters suitable for autoclave sterilization?
A: No. While 304 Stainless Steel can handle autoclave heat, Polyurethane and Delrin will melt or deform at autoclave temperatures (typically 250°F+). For autoclaves, we highly recommend our Stainless Steel Casters with High-Temp Phenolic or High-Temp Nylon wheels.
Q: Will the solid polyurethane wheel damage my floors?
A: Absolutely not. Polyurethane is the industry standard for floor protection. It provides the high weight capacity of hard plastic but has enough give to roll smoothly without scratching expensive epoxy, tile, or polished concrete surfaces.
Q: Is 304 Stainless Steel the same as 316 Stainless Steel?
A: 304 SS is highly corrosion-resistant and is the standard for 95% of food and medical applications. 316 SS contains added molybdenum for extreme chloride (salt) resistance. We offer 316 SS as a custom upgrade for specialized marine or extreme chemical applications.
