Stainless Steel Roller Manufacturer

AstraRoll manufactures precision stainless steel rollers in China. Our stainless steel rollers serve diverse web processing and material transport machinery, widely adopted in food processing, pharmaceutical, plastic film, packaging, textile, new energy battery, paper and printing industries. We offer custom sizing, tailored surface machining, flexible OEM & ODM services and reliable global shipment.

Overview

A stainless steel roller is a precision cylindrical metal roll fabricated from stainless steel (common grades: 304, 304L, 316L or 430), engineered as a core component for continuous web handling, material transport and surface processing systems across multiple industrial sectors.

Unlike carbon steel rollers that require additional anti-corrosion coatings, stainless steel rollers possess native resistance to oxidation and chemical corrosion. This inherent property makes them the top pick for operations demanding strict hygiene, stable dimensional performance and extended service life.

AstraRoll is a Chinese manufacturer of precision stainless steel rollers. Our rollers are widely fitted to web handling and conveying equipment serving food processing, pharmaceutical, plastic film, packaging, textile, lithium-ion battery, paper and converting industries. We deliver custom dimensions and tailored surface machining, full OEM/ODM capability and reliable worldwide delivery.

What Is a Stainless Steel Roller?

A stainless steel roller is a rotating cylindrical component built to guide, support, convey or process continuous substrates such as film, foil, paper, fabric and metal strips. Three fundamental parts form the whole assembly:

  • Roller barrel / shell: The outer cylindrical body making direct contact with the processed material
  • Stub shafts / journals: Shaft extensions at both roller ends, fitted into bearings to transmit rotary power
  • Core structure: Hollow tubular or solid design, selected based on roller weight, load capacity and running speed

We adapt every stainless steel roller to match your machine requirements. Custom machined surfaces can be turned, ground or polished to your target roughness. Multiple shaft configurations are available including single-end shaft, double-end shaft and end-flange connection. Optional functional coatings such as hard chrome plating, ceramic coating and specialty surface treatments can be added for harsh operating environments.

Core Advantages of Our Stainless Steel Rollers

Corrosion resistance sits at the heart of this product line. Grades 304 and 316L withstand moisture, fresh water, weak acids, weak alkalis and salt contamination perfectly, ideal for sanitary production lines and wet processing environments.

Tight machining tolerances guarantee outstanding dimensional precision. Every roller is ground and inspected strictly, delivering consistent outer diameter, roundness and straightness. This keeps web tension stable, pressure uniform and vibration low during non-stop production.

Surface texture is fully customizable to your process goal. Mirror polished surfaces minimise friction and prevent scratching or sticking to delicate substrates. Textured finishes boost material grip and coating adhesion for printing and coating workflows.

High mechanical rigidity ensures rollers handle heavy loads and high operating speeds without permanent deformation. Smooth, non-porous stainless steel surfaces simplify cleaning and sanitisation, meeting GMP hygiene standards for food and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

When compared with coated carbon steel alternatives, stainless steel rollers resist rust degradation, cut down routine maintenance, reduce production downtime and lower your long-term operational expenditure.

Application Fields

Our stainless steel rollers are essential guiding and conveying elements across continuous manufacturing lines.

  • Food Processing: Sanitary rollers for dairy, bakery, fruit & vegetable and packaged food production, compliant with food-contact hygiene requirements
  • Pharmaceutical & Medical: Web guiding rollers for tablet, capsule and medical packaging. Cleanroom-ready rollers available for high-purity pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Plastic Film & Flexible Packaging: Rollers for web guiding, tension control and winding on extrusion, lamination, printing, slitting and rewinding machines
  • Textile & Nonwoven: Fabric guiding and drying rollers for textile finishing, nonwoven production and calendering processes
  • Lithium-ion Battery: Precision conveying rollers for electrode foil coating and material transport within battery production workshops
  • Paper & Printing: Web guide rollers for paper machines, printing presses and paper converting equipment
  • Other Sectors: Metal strip processing, synthetic leather production and general industrial material transport systems

Reference Technical Specifications

Our stainless steel rollers support outer diameters ranging from 30 mm up to 800 mm, and effective face lengths from 100 mm to 6,000 mm. All dimensions can be fully customised to match project specifications. We offer stainless steel grades including 304, 304L, 316L and 430 upon client request.

Surface roughness options span Ra 0.02 µm to Ra 3.2 µm. Roundness is controlled ≤0.02 mm across the full roller face, and straightness is held within 0.05 mm per meter. If hard chrome plating is applied, surface hardness reaches HRC 58–62.

Shaft and end connection options include solid shaft, hollow shaft, stub shaft and end flange. The default outer diameter tolerance is ±0.02 mm, with tighter tolerance achievable on request. All rollers are dynamically balanced to ISO 1940 G2.5.

All figures above serve as reference values. Final manufacturing parameters follow your technical drawings or requirements.

Available Surface Finishing Solutions

Surface finishing directly defines roller performance in different working environments.

  • Mirror Polishing: Achieves ultra-smooth surface Ra 0.02–0.4 µm. Preferred for food, pharmaceutical and thin film applications requiring clean, low-adhesion surfaces
  • Matte / Sand Blasting: Creates uniform controlled texture, improving coating adhesion and reducing light reflection for printing and coating lines
  • Hard Chrome Plating: Coating thickness ranges 0.02–0.10 mm, boosting surface hardness and wear resistance for heavy-load, high-speed operations
  • Knurling: Diamond or straight knurl patterns increase friction to pull substrates smoothly and eliminate slippage
  • Special Custom Coatings: Ceramic, PTFE / Teflon and rubber cladding for bespoke release, insulation or gripping performance

Production Workflow

AstraRoll maintains a standardised production workflow to secure consistent roller quality. Raw material inspection is completed first to verify stainless steel stock with valid material test certificates. CNC turning shapes the roller barrel and stub shafts to rough dimensions. Precision welding joins barrel sections when needed, followed by stress-relief heat treatment to eliminate internal residual stress.

Rough grinding removes welding seams and machining tool marks, then fine grinding and polishing bring the roller to the required dimensional accuracy and surface roughness. Dynamic balancing is carried out to ISO 1940 G2.5 standard to suppress vibration during high-speed rotation. Custom surface treatments such as chrome plating and polishing are applied according to specifications.

Once processing finishes, full final quality inspection checks dimensions, roundness, straightness and surface quality. Completed rollers are wrapped with moisture-proof protective film and packed in fumigated export wooden cases before shipment.

Quality Assurance

Every stainless steel roller passes comprehensive inspection before leaving our factory. Our QC team uses calibrated precision measuring tools for dimensional checks, roundness, straightness and surface roughness testing. Dynamic balancing tests are performed and formal test reports are supplied.

Full raw material certification covering chemical composition and mechanical properties will be provided on demand. Runout and concentricity inspections are also conducted to ensure stable rotary performance under real production conditions.
