Custom Heavy-Duty Dual-Wheel Shipping Container Casters

Product Overview:
Moving a fully loaded 20-foot or 40-foot ISO shipping container traditionally requires a heavy crane, a massive reach stacker, or a heavy-duty forklift. However, in tight warehouse spaces, military deployment zones, or factory staging areas, this heavy machinery is often unavailable or lacks the necessary turning clearance. The AstraRoll Custom Heavy-Duty Shipping Container Caster instantly transforms a stationary container into a highly mobile platform. Instead of a standard bolting plate, these casters are equipped with an integrated ISO Twist-Lock mechanism. They simply slot into the bottom corner castings of any standard shipping container and lock securely into place with the pull of a lever—requiring zero tools or welding. Featuring a rugged dual-wheel architecture and massive precision thrust bearings, a set of four AstraRoll casters allows a small towing tractor or heavy-duty tugger to smoothly mobilize and steer containerized loads exceeding 40 tons.

The AstraRoll Technical Advantage
Mobilizing a 40-ton steel box requires extreme structural integrity and specialized pivot engineering:
Integrated ISO Twist-Lock: Rapid deployment is key. The twist-lock top plate perfectly matches ISO 1161 corner fittings. It locks and unlocks manually, allowing your ground crew to attach the wheels and mobilize a container in minutes without specialized tools.
Dual-Wheel Architecture: When turning a massive load, a single, wide wheel creates massive "scrub radius" friction, often binding or tearing the polyurethane tread off the core. Our dual-wheel design allows the two wheels to rotate at slightly different speeds during a pivot, drastically reducing steering resistance and preventing tread delamination.
Massive Thrust Bearings: The swivel head of a standard caster will shatter under 10 tons of pressure. We utilize heavy-duty tapered roller thrust bearings in the swivel yoke. This absorbs the extreme axial (downward) and radial (side-to-side) forces during towing, ensuring the caster can still swivel freely under maximum payload.
High-Tear Polyurethane: We utilize premium hot-cast liquid polyurethane. It provides the necessary elasticity to absorb minor floor impacts and protect warehouse concrete from being pulverized, while maintaining the rock-hard structural integrity needed to support multi-ton payloads.

Why Choose AstraRoll?
1. Complete Mobilization Systems
We don't just supply individual wheels. AstraRoll provides complete turnkey mobilization kits. A typical heavy-towing set includes four Twist-Lock Casters (often equipped with heavy-duty Directional Locks to keep the rear wheels tracking straight) and a massive custom Container Tow Bar (集装箱牵引杆) that locks into the front corner castings, allowing you to hook the container directly to a terminal tractor or heavy forklift.
2. Engineered for Towing Safety
Towing multi-ton loads is incredibly dangerous if the caster kingpin fails. AstraRoll eliminates the traditional bolted kingpin. Instead, we utilize an integrally forged kingpin welded deeply into the heavy 12mm+ thick top plate, ensuring the swivel head will never shear off during emergency stops or tight turns.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Can I use these casters to tow a container on the highway or public roads?
A: Absolutely not. These are industrial casters designed strictly for slow-speed, off-highway staging and intra-facility movement (Max speed 3 to 5 km/h). Towing at high speeds will cause the polyurethane to melt from internal hysteresis heat and the bearings to fail catastrophically.
Q: Are these casters suitable for rough dirt, gravel, or muddy terrain?
A: No. Polyurethane wheels have very little ground clearance and zero flotation. They are engineered specifically for hard, relatively smooth surfaces like polished concrete, factory floors, or paved asphalt tarmac. If you need to mobilize a container through deep gravel or dirt, you must use our Pneumatic or Foam-Filled Container Hub Hubs.
Q: Do I need four swivel casters, or a mix of swivel and rigid?
A: Because containers are moved using a tow bar connected to a tractor, we highly recommend utilizing four Swivel Casters equipped with 4-way Directional Locks. This allows you to lock the two rear casters in a straight (rigid) position for stable, high-control towing, while keeping the front two in swivel mode for steering. When parking, you can unlock all four to easily push the container sideways into tight spaces.
Q1. Are you a trader or direct factory?
