Product Overview:

When conveying raw dough or micro-components, standard mesh belts have too much open area—cookie dough sags into the gaps, and small machine parts simply fall through the belt. The AstraRoll Compound Balanced Weave Belt (widely known as a Cordweave belt) is engineered specifically to solve this problem. We take the true-tracking geometry of a standard balanced weave and compress it, inserting multiple straight cross-wires inside each interlocking spiral. The result is an incredibly dense, tightly woven metal fabric with a remarkably smooth and flat surface. For industrial bakeries, this dense thermal mass provides the perfect conductive heat transfer for baking the bottom of biscuits and crackers. For the metallurgy industry, it provides a bulletproof, flat bed for conveying heavy loads of tiny fasteners, nuts, and bearings through extreme heat-treatment furnaces. As a custom OEM manufacturer, AstraRoll weaves this heavy-duty belt to your exact dimensional and thermal requirements.

Compound Balanced Weave Belts for Baking & Small Parts

The AstraRoll Technical Advantage: Density Meets Durability
A compound weave is significantly more complex to manufacture than a standard mesh. We precision-engineer our looms to produce the tightest, flattest belts in the industry:

Ultra-Dense "Blind" Surface: By nesting right-hand and left-hand spirals closely together with 3 to 5 cross-wires per spiral, the "open area" of the belt is reduced to almost zero. This prevents raw pastry dough from extruding downward and ensures tiny mechanical components never get jammed or lost in the machinery.

Exceptional Surface Flatness: The tightly woven "cord" structure creates a conveying surface that mimics a solid steel band, but with superior flexibility. This ensures top-heavy products (like small glass vials or standing metal parts) do not tip over during transport.

High Thermal Mass for Baking: In baking applications (like tunnel ovens for cookies), the sheer volume of stainless steel wire in a compound belt retains heat beautifully. This conductive heat provides that perfect, even "bake" and coloring on the bottom of the biscuit.

Immense Tensile Strength: Because the wires are packed so densely, the structural integrity of the belt is massive. It can carry extremely heavy loads (such as bulk metal forgings or powder metal parts) through high-heat furnaces without stretching, narrowing, or warping.

Key Specifications & Custom Capabilities

Please note: We manufacture entirely to your specifications. The following are our standard operating ranges.
Spiral Pitch: Custom-engineered (Typically very tight, e.g., 3mm to 12mm).
Cross Wire Pitch: Custom engineered (Multiple cross wires per spiral).
Wire Diameter: 0.9mm to 3.0mm (Available in round wire or flat wire for an even smoother surface).
Overall Width: Precision woven from 100mm up to 3,000mm+.
Temperature Range: -50°C to 1150°C (Dependent on the selected high-heat alloy).
Drive System Compatibility: Friction-drive standard; Positive Chain-drive highly recommended for long oven runs.

Comparison Item                    AstraRoll Compound Weave
Vs. Standard Balanced Weave Product Support: Standard weave allows small parts to fall through. Compound weave holds items as small as 2mm across.
Vs. Solid Steel Baking Bands Flexibility & Maintenance: Solid bands crack and are difficult to track. Compound weaves are flexible, track easily, and allow hot gases to escape to prevent dough blistering.

Why Choose AstraRoll? (Your Thermal Processing OEM Partner)

1. Exact Oven Band Replacement

If you are running a major commercial tunnel oven (e.g., Reading Bakery Systems, Haas, or Baker Perkins), replacing the massive baking band is a critical and expensive task. AstraRoll's reverse-engineering team can perfectly match the exact density, wire gauge, and alloy of your OEM belt, providing a flawless drop-in replacement at direct-from-factory pricing.

2. Expert Splicing Support

A compound weave is thick and tight, making it the most difficult belt to splice (join) on the factory floor. We don't just ship the roll; we provide specially prepared splicing wires, specialized tools, and detailed engineering guides to ensure your maintenance team can create a seamless, invisible joint that won't leave marks on your baked goods.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How is a Compound Weave different from a standard Balanced Weave?
A: A standard balanced weave has one cross-wire connecting the left and right spirals, leaving a noticeable diamond-shaped open gap. A compound weave compresses this design by inserting 3, 4, or even 5 straight cross-wires into a single spiral, closing the gaps completely and making the belt much heavier and denser.

Q: Is this belt too heavy for my current conveyor system?
A: Compound weave belts use significantly more wire per square meter, making them much heavier than standard belts. If you are retrofitting an existing conveyor that previously used a light mesh, you must ensure your drive motors, shafts, and frame structure are rated to pull the extra weight.

Q: Can we wash this dense belt effectively?
A: Yes. While the gaps are small, it is not entirely solid. High-pressure steam, caustic washdown foams, and ultrasonic cleaning systems can effectively penetrate the dense wire structure to remove baked-on dough, sugars, or quenching oils.

Q: Should I choose round wire or flat wire for my biscuit baking band?
A: Flat wire is generally preferred for baking and dough handling. We roll the top of the spiral wires flat during manufacturing, which creates an even smoother surface. This leaves fewer wire marks on the bottom of your cookies and makes it easier for a scraper blade to release the baked goods at the discharge end.
