Q: How do I measure the length I need? Do I measure the roller or the frame?
A: The most accurate way to order is by providing the Between Frames (BF) dimension. Measure the exact distance from the inside of one conveyor frame rail to the inside of the opposite rail. Our engineers will automatically calculate the necessary clearances and axle lengths to ensure the roller fits perfectly.

Q: What is the difference between a "PU Sleeved" and a "Hot-Cast PU" roller?
A: PU Sleeved: A highly resilient polyurethane tube is stretched and pneumatically installed over the steel core. This is highly cost-effective and perfect for gravity conveyors and standard powered lines.
 Hot-Cast PU: Liquid polyurethane is poured and chemically bonded directly to the steel core. This is more expensive but required for extreme heavy-duty applications (like moving 2-ton steel coils) where a sleeve might slip under massive rotational torque.

Q: Can these rollers build up static electricity?
A: Polyurethane is a natural insulator, which means friction can build up static charge on fast-moving lines. If you are conveying sensitive electronics or operating in a volatile environment, please let us know. We can formulate the PU coating with Anti-Static (ESD) properties to safely dissipate the charge through the steel axle.

Q: Can I just buy the PU sleeves and put them on my existing rollers?
A: While possible, installing stretch-fit PU sleeves manually is incredibly difficult without specialized pneumatic expansion tools. It is highly recommended and much more cost-effective in terms of labor to order the complete, pre-assembled AstraRoll PU-coated roller.
